2009 TAX UPDATES:
First Time Homebuyer Credits - home purchased between April 9, 2008 - May 30, 2010. Closing date determines which of three credit you will qualify for. Bring your closing statement.
Existing Homebuyer Credit - If you sold, after Nov, 9, 2009, the home that you lived in for 5 of the last 8 years, you may qualify for the credit. Bring in your closing statement.
Standard Deduction for Sales Tax Paid on New Vehicles - If you don't itemize, you may claim a sales tax deduction for the sales tax paid on a new vehicle after Feb. 17 and before January 1, 2010. Bring in your Vehicle Sales Contract.
Standard Deduction for Real Property Taxes - If you don't itemize, you may claim a real property tax deduction for the real property tax you paid. Bring property tax receipts.
Education Credits - New credits are allowed. You can now claim your books. Bring in your 1098-T and receipts for books and materials required by the college.
Unemployment Benefits - First $2,400 received in 2009 is non-taxable.
Earned Income Credit -There will be additional paperwork to be completed in order to file for the Earned Income Credit.
